The City Council will be moving fast to try to find a new city clerk. In late August, City Clerk Lorrie Poyzer announced she would leave her elected position on Dec. 17. Her term is due to expire in November 2012.

A local organic produce buying club is on hiatus now, unsure of what to do after the city notified members they needed a business license. "The Inland Empire Organic Produce Buying Club is not a business and I will not file for a business license," organizer Alexis Black said. "It goes against everything we stand for to call ourselves a business. We give our time and resources to the group. We don't receive any monetary gain. If I file as a business, it will seem as if we are running a business. I will

Whoever replaces Lorrie Poyzer as city clerk will probably serve out the remainder of her term. In late August, Poyzer announced she would leave her elected position on Dec. 17. That is just a year into her four-year term, which expires in November 2012.

If we could only appoint (someone) until the next election on Nov. 2 (2010), I think that would be preferable to a long term, which doesn't expire until November of 2012   -Jerry Bean

The Redlands City Council is giving the operator of Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom more time to appeal the revocation of its operating permit. The council voted 3-2 to continue the public hearing to Oct. 6. Pharaoh's owners requested more time because the operator's legal counsel could not attend, the city's attorney said.

About 200 children and parents stopped by the Redlands Community Center Saturday for fun, food and education. The city of Redlands held its first Healthy Kids Day at the community center Saturday. The Healthy Redlands Initiative - led by Mayor Pro Tem Pat Gilbreath - hosted about 200 people at the event meant to encourage parents to help their kids lead healthier lives.
